Object Title

Peterloo, by Hone and Cruikshank

Original Format

engraving

Description

This image of Peterloo turns the event into a medal commemorating the brutality of the yeomanry's response to the crowd. Hone's comment on the left-hand side - 'Am I not a Brother and a Man' - uses a phrase consecrated by Wedgewood's medallion for the antislavery movement in the 1790s.
